On 26th and 27th of June 2008 a regular G8 Foreign Ministers meeting was held in Kyoto, Japan. Various last generation PTZ speed dome cameras JVC TK-C686E were used in the event. The cameras were integrated into the interpreter system and they were placed on the various meeting tables in upside down position. Every PTZ camera is triggered by voice alarm from the microphone in front of the delegates. When a microphone is switched on, the camera automatically turns to a preset position showing the minister who is talking. The video signal from the camera is transmitted to the interpreter booths showing the speaker’s face, thus helping the translation. Key features which made TK-C686E a perfect solution for this event were accurate Pan/Tilt movement (up to 0.01 degrees), super fast movement (up to 400 deg/sec) and super silent operation thanks to the revolutionary DirectDrive mechanism without belts.
